Quality Forward and Buncombe County's Treasured Trees Award Program identifies, documents and recognizes the largest, rarest, oldest and prettiest trees of various species.
The purpose is to:
· Bring public awareness to these valuable and irreplaceable trees.
· Increase the tree owners' awareness of the tree(s) unique importance
through education and to encourage continued stewardship.
· Protect all such trees from indiscriminate removal or irreparable
damage during development and urbanization.
· Stimulate awareness of the diversity, sensitivity and importance
of the tree canopy and roots.

Memorial Trees
Over the past 30 years, Quality Forward has provided for
planting well over 15,000 trees on streets, highways, parks, public buildings
and grounds throughout Buncombe County. In an effort to continue the reforestation
of our community, we offer a Memorial Tree Program. With a tax deductible
contribution of $100, you purchase a tree to be planted in honor of a
special person. Trees can be planted in memory of or in honor of a birthday,
anniversary or any other special designation. Quality Forward will furnish
a specimen 1-2" caliper tree and all necessary labor and materials.
Each person or family will receive a card announcing that a specimen tree
has been planted in honor of an individual by the contributor.
In addition, the recipient's name will be inscribed on a beautiful tile
from Asheville Tile Works and hung in Quality Forward's headquarters.
